good to know:

today nearly every band is playing with custom made guitar picks. the easiest way to get one is to visit a concert and to stay in the front row. there are some artists who throw hundreds of picks into the crowd (like kiss). others are very economical with picks (for example ac/dc). the collector's values of a guitar picks are as disparate as the picks themselves. normally the value is depending on the rareness and the degree of popularity of the artist. for example a vintage pick used by keith richards can realize a price up from $50.- to $300.- or more. if an artist died normally his picks are in demand more often and the picks rise in value.
scuff and wear of a pick is causing controversy sometimes. much wear doesn't mean inevitably worthless. if the wear is caused by playing the instrument (not scratched on the floor) it can still be worthy. there are even collectors who are always looking for picks which are explicit used.

there are different shapes*:
*some artists like vivian campbell (def leppard) or george lynch use standard picks as well as remarkable shapes. others always use the same special shape over the years like ex- bon jovi bassist alec john such or herman frank (accept, ex-victory).
